Some range days are about serious testing. Others are about drills, data, and pushing performance.

And then there are the days that remind you why we all love shooting in the first place — good gear, good people, and steel ringing nonstop.

This latest range day was exactly that.

Getting Back to the Basics — But Having Fun

I headed out for a relaxed but productive day at the range with the crew from Bash Target Supply, and the goal was simple: run gear, test setups, and just enjoy shooting.

No pressure. No timer obsession. Just a solid day of plinking, random drills, and seeing what worked in real-world fun conditions.

We spent most of the day running steel targets, plate racks, and even throwing some clay targets into the mix — yes, clays with pistols and rifles. If you’ve never done that, I highly recommend it. It’s challenging, unpredictable, and honestly just hilarious when you connect.

Staccato C2 + Mad Science Tactical Grip Delete

One of the main reasons for this range trip was getting more time behind my Staccato C2, specifically testing the Mad Science Tactical Grip Delete setup.

I’ve been really impressed with how it changes the feel and handling of the gun. The overall ergonomics feel cleaner, and it lets me focus more on grip consistency without the traditional grip safety in the equation.

The best part? Running it hard on steel lets you know quickly if something feels right — and this setup just works.

YHM Turbo KR-B — Still Smiling Every Time I Shoot It

I also brought out my YHM Turbo KR-B suppressor, which I ordered through Brownells.

I’ll say it again — suppressors make range days better.

Running the KR-B on steel was an absolute blast. The sound reduction makes longer sessions more enjoyable, and it honestly helps you stay focused because you’re not fighting fatigue from constant concussion and noise.

Every time I run this can I’m reminded why I’m such a fan of practical, reasonably priced suppressors that just work.

Aero Precision EPC9 — Pure Range Day Fun

If there was a star of the day for pure smiles per round, it was my Aero Precision EPC9 build.

This thing is just fun.

The EPC9 is one of those platforms that bridges the gap between rifle control and pistol-caliber economy. It’s soft shooting, fast, and perfect for steel work.

Being able to run plate racks quickly and transition between targets made it one of the most enjoyable setups on the line.

And honestly — Brownells was a huge part of getting this build together. From parts to ammo to those random range-day essentials you forgot you needed, they’ve become one of my go-to resources for keeping projects moving and range bags stocked.

Shoutout to Bash Target Supply

Big thanks to Bash Target Supply for the targets and the invite to come out and shoot.

If you haven’t seen what they offer yet, they’re putting out some seriously solid steel target options built for real shooters. Their lineup includes:

  • Durable steel targets for pistols and rifles

  • Plate racks and reactive steel setups

  • Range-ready designs built to take abuse

  • Practical options for both training and fun days like this one

Having quality steel makes a huge difference. There’s something about that immediate feedback — the sound, the movement, the satisfaction — that just keeps you engaged and smiling all day.

Why Days Like This Matter

Not every range day has to be serious training.

Sometimes it’s about experimenting, trying new gear, running random drills, and reminding yourself that shooting is supposed to be fun.

This day was exactly that — laughs, steel ringing, gear testing, and good company.

And honestly, those relaxed range days often teach you more than you expect.

You learn how your setups actually feel when you’re just shooting naturally. You discover what’s comfortable, what needs tweaking, and what you want to run again next time.

Final Thoughts

Huge thanks again to Bash Target Supply for helping make the day happen.

The Staccato C2 setup keeps getting better with the Mad Science Tactical grip delete. The YHM Turbo KR-B continues to impress every time it comes out.And the Aero Precision EPC9 reminds me that sometimes the most fun guns are the ones you build yourself.

More range days like this are definitely coming.

Until next time — keep training, keep tinkering, and keep having fun.
