In Episode 99 of the MacBroz Show, Josh and Darius dive into the world of competition shooting and have an honest conversation about where they are right now as competitors, content creators, and gear nerds trying to keep the momentum going. We talk through the highs and lows of competing, whether we are starting to feel burnout, and what it has been like switching between USCCL, USPSA, and everything in between. From stage planning and performance expectations to gear changes, pistol setups, mistakes, lessons learned, and trying to figure out what actually matters, this episode is a real look at the journey. We also get into what we are competing for, what motivates us to keep showing up, and whether anything needs to change moving forward. Are we chasing placement? Skill growth? Content? Community? Or just trying to stay consistent while still enjoying the process? This one is for anyone who competes, wants to compete, has felt stuck, or has ever wondered if changing gear, divisions, matches, or mindset is the answer. As always, we are just two best friends talking life, firearms, competition, and the journey of getting better.

Courtney joined Josh for a special MacBroz Podcast recording at GunCon 2026, and this episode is all about hearing the event from her perspective. This was her first time attending GunCon, her first time being around the firearms industry at this level, and her first time seeing the creator, brand, and community side of what we do. We talk through the event, Range Day, the people, the booths, the vibe, what stood out to her, and what surprised her the most. For the MacBroz, GunCon is always a chance to connect with brands, creators, and the community. But this episode is a little different because Courtney got to experience it firsthand and give an honest outsider-looking-in perspective. Presented by XS Sights. On this episode of the MacBroz Show, Josh is out at GunCon 2026, so Darius takes over hosting duties and keeps the show rolling with a competition-focused episode. We kick things off with the Fun Fact of the Day, featuring the Chevrolet Corvette — the longest continuously produced sports car in U.S. history, first introduced in 1953. From there, Darius introduces a new show concept: Interview Roulette. Throughout the episode, several competition shooters join the conversation to answer a quick series of questions about their current setup, classification, mindset, and what they’re working on as competitors. The guests break down: What pistol they’re currently competing with Their current competition classification Their favorite part of shooting competition What they’re focused on improving right now Their biggest hurdle in competition This episode is a fun look into the different stages of the competition shooting journey — from gear choices and skill development to match pressure, growth goals, and the challenges every shooter faces along the way. Whether you’re already competing, thinking about signing up for your first match, or just like hearing shooters talk through their process, this one gives a real-world look at what keeps people coming back to the sport.

In this week’s episode of The MacBroz Show, we’re putting the spotlight on audience Q&A and answering some of the questions you all sent in. We break down what pistol we would choose if we could only have one gun for both range and carry, what really matters most for EDC between comfort, capacity, and shootability, and whether red dots have become a must-have or are still just a personal preference. We also answer the big question: will we ever go back to shooting Glocks again? On top of the Q&A, Josh may have another 2011 project in the works, D talks about running SuperVel ammo, adding a new Red Dirt Trigger, and rebuilding his M&P setup. Plus, we kick things off with a wild fun fact about car radios being introduced in the 1930s and costing over $100 back then. Real opinions, gun talk, project updates, audience questions, and the usual MacBroz chaos. Topics include: One pistol for range and carry EDC comfort vs. capacity vs. shootability Are red dots a must-have now? Would we go back to Glocks? Josh’s possible new 2011 project SuperVel ammo Red Dirt Trigger M&P rebuild updates Drop your answer in the comments: If you could only have one pistol for range and carry, what would it be?

This week on the MacBroz Show, Josh and Darius sit down with a very special guest: Courtney (Jay's Wife). With GunCon coming up in a couple weeks, Courtney wanted to get more comfortable around an outdoor range environment. She may or may not choose to shoot firearms at GunCon, but the goal was to get familiar with the sounds, setup, safety flow, and overall experience before stepping into a major firearms event. Courtney had previously shot a ported 9mm Glock indoors, but this time she went outdoors, shot paper and steel, got hands-on with .22LR and .223/5.56 rifles for the first time, and got more pistol reps in. We talk about what it’s like for someone newer to firearms to prepare for a big event, what experienced shooters forget about the beginner experience, indoor vs outdoor ranges, rifle expectations, steel targets, safety, confidence, and what it means to represent MacBroz well. In this episode of the MacBroz Show, we sit down with Jon Patton from The Gun Collective and GunCon for a real conversation about the firearms industry, gun culture, content creation, and the community behind it all. We talk about the origin of GunCon, what makes it different from other industry events, and how it has grown into a place where creators, companies, and the 2A community can actually connect. Jon shares what goes into building an event like GunCon, what people do not see behind the scenes, and why community matters so much in the future of the firearms space. We also get into the creator side of things: how to make better content, what new creators get wrong, why authenticity still matters, and how to stand out in a space that is constantly changing. From video tips and editing mindset to burnout, social media, industry relationships, and staying true to yourself, this episode is packed with real talk for anyone trying to build something in the gun world. Of course, we also get into hot takes, overhyped trends, GunCon stories, and where Jon sees the industry going next. Use code JW5 for GunCon tickets.
